Ornamental stone sector expands trade route with Europe and targets US$ 226 million in sales
The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) approved this week an addendum to the ornamental stone sector project that increases by 65 the number of international buyers included in the sector’s commercial promotion actions, with the potential to generate US$ 226 million in business. Of the total, 20 buyers will be directed to a business round in Poland, an initiative that directly expands the Brazilian presence in the European market, while another 25 will be incorporated into the Marmomac Brasil fair and 20 more will participate in meetings during the Xiamen Stone Fair, in China.
According to the Brazilian Association of Natural Stones (Centrorochas), the initiative seeks to diversify the sector’s portfolio of buyers, which is currently heavily concentrated in the United States, a country that absorbed 53.5% of the exported value in 2025, equivalent to US$ 795 million, mainly in higher value-added products. The addendum represents an additional contribution of R$ 1.9 million to the sector project, of which R$ 1.76 million is financed by ApexBrasil and R$ 142.8 thousand corresponds to Centrorochas’ counterpart. On this front, the entity has also mapped markets that already consume Brazilian stones indirectly, such as Europe and South Korea, and is conducting studies on the effects of the Mercosur-European Union Agreement on the sector’s production chain, with a view to enabling more direct access to the European bloc.
The sector is also preparing to participate in a sectoral plenary in Brussels, which reinforces the movement of institutional approximation with the European Union and signals the intention to consolidate the bloc as a strategic destination for Brazilian exports of ornamental stones in the coming years.
