Alliance between Enfil and EnviTec brings German biogas experience to Brazil and expands biomethane supply

Enfil Controle Ambiental, a Brazilian company, and EnviTec Biogas, a German group, signed a partnership on October 6, 2026, aimed at making biogas and biomethane projects viable in national territory. The agreement unites a company established in the country since 1994, which has accumulated over 390 projects associated with water sanitation, effluent management, and emission mitigation, with a European group that, since 2002, has been involved in more than 700 biogas ventures distributed across 18 countries and operates 91 of its own plants. In 2025, the German company’s revenue totaled 312.6 million euros.

The division of responsibilities combines Enfil’s experience in engineering, construction, and assembly—with projects in segments ranging from mineral extraction to steelmaking, including oil and gas, power generation, cellulose, and sanitation—with EnviTec’s knowledge in transforming organic matter into energy. Among the German group’s solutions is the EnviThan system, already adopted in over 100 plants, which uses hollow fiber membranes developed together with Evonik to separate methane from other gases present in the biogas, raising the concentration of this gas from approximately 50% to over 97% by volume. According to the company, methane recovery can exceed 99% in certain arrangements, and the carbon dioxide removed in the process can be sold for industrial uses.

The announcement is part of a consolidating regulatory framework. The Fuel of the Future Law created the National Decarbonization Program for Natural Gas Producers and Importers and Incentive for Biomethane and, in March 2026, the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) published Resolution No. 995, which defines the division of targets between producers and importers, and Resolution No. 996, which regulates the fuel’s certificates of origin. On October 6, the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) submitted to public consultation the proposed target of 1% for 2027, equivalent to about 363.2 million cubic meters annually, or 995.2 thousand cubic meters daily, with increasing indicative levels of 3%, 4%, and 5% in 2028, 2029, and 2030, respectively, compared to the 0.5% established for 2026.
