Apex Forum brings R$ 1.56 billion in investments for projects in Brazil

The European Union (EU) has formalized a significant investment package for Brazil, totaling approximately 266.58 million euros (about 1.56 billion reais). The announcement was formalized at the II Brazil-European Union Investment Forum, organized jointly by ApexBrasil and the European Union, in collaboration with the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI), hosted at Apex. It aims to strengthen digital infrastructure, boost the energy transition, and promote social development, with a focus on the North and Northeast regions of the country.

The largest share of the funds, set at 260.8 million euros, will be allocated to the “Mais Conectado” (More Connected) initiative. This funding aims to bring high-capacity network infrastructure to the territories of Maranhão and Pará. In practice, the initiative will extend the EllaLink optical submarine cable, which currently departs from Portugal and lands in the northeastern state of Ceará, also incorporating equipment for evaluating climate parameters and detecting seismic activity, in addition to providing support to strengthen local cybersecurity.

In the realm of energy sustainability, the European bloc has committed to fostering the renewable hydrogen industry through the “H2Uppp” agreement. The project will receive a total of 3.5 million euros in joint funding from the EU and the German government. This capital injection focuses on accelerating the technical maturation of promising early-stage green initiatives, ensuring they achieve the structural modeling necessary to attract more robust financial investments.

Finally, the package also includes a focus on native and riverside communities. The “Amazônia Verde” (Green Amazon) program will invest 1.5 million euros to enable 4G and satellite networks in six isolated population hubs within the Amazon territory. Furthermore, approximately 777,000 euros will be directed to the “Cunhaintá Kirimbawasá” project, with the goal of providing economic support to local entities, enhancing the political role and environmental preservation efforts of female and youth leaders in the indigenous bases of Acre, Amazonas, Rondônia, and Roraima.
