Brazil attracts the interest of Spanish companies following the provisional application of the Mercosur-EU agreement
The entry into provisional application of the agreement between Mercosur and the European Union has caught the attention of Spanish companies seeking to expand their presence in Latin America, and Brazil stands out in this movement. This is the assessment of the director of the Spanish Chamber, Alejandro Gomez Gil, who monitors internationalization processes and the business relationship between the two countries, and considers the Brazilian market strategic for this audience.
In Gomez Gil’s view, the scale and diversity of the national economy open up space for projects ranging from infrastructure works to technology and service solutions, as well as partnerships linked to the energy transition, which encompasses renewable energies, decarbonization, circular economy, and energy efficiency. The executive also points out that innovation does not always depend on unprecedented creations, and can result from the adaptation of already tested practices and technologies to different local realities.
Despite the favorable prospects, the director emphasizes that arriving in Brazil requires prior preparation. Understanding the legislation, the tax system, foreign trade rules, and the specific dynamics of local businesses would be a condition for safer decisions, lower risk exposure, and the construction of sustainable long-term operations. In this context, the Spanish Chamber, which brings together companies from both countries and maintains thematic committees in areas such as infrastructure, energy, technology, and legal and tax matters, publishes technical materials aimed at those intending to operate in both markets, including the guide How to Do Business in Brazil.
