Starting September 6, 2026, more than 90 Italian companies will participate in the first European business mission aimed at Mercosur following the approval of the trade agreement between the South American bloc and the European Union. The delegation, which will travel through Argentina and Brazil, is coordinated by the Confederation of Italian Industry, under the leadership of entrepreneur Emanuele Orsini, and by the government agency for export promotion, led by the president of the Italian Trade Agency, Matteo Zoppas. Prior to the official start, between September 3 and 5, a preliminary institutional mission visited Uruguay, led by the entity’s vice president for export and investment attraction.

The trip features the presence of Italian ministers of Foreign Affairs and Education, Antonio Tajani and Giuseppe Valditara, reinforcing the strategic nature of the initiative for the Italian government. According to the organizers, the goal goes beyond increasing trade volume, seeking to consolidate lasting industrial partnerships, with the integration of productive chains, technology transfer, and human capital formation. The agenda also includes facilitating the entrance of Italian companies into major infrastructure projects in the region, in addition to expanding cooperation in research and innovation, supported by institutions such as Italian export credit agencies and development banks.
