Brazilian defense sector takes its export strategy to Europe at EURONAVAL 2026

From November 3 to 6, 2026, the Brazilian Association of Defense and Security Materials Industries (ABIMDE) and ApexBrasil are leading the Brazilian delegation attending EURONAVAL, an international event dedicated to naval defense held at the Paris-Nord Villepinte exhibition complex in France. Named Espaço Brasil (Brazil Space), the national pavilion is backed by the Ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs and aims to elevate the external projection and competitive capacity of domestic manufacturers of military and maritime technology.

The space comprises Atech, from the Embraer Group, Simtech, and Equipaer, linked to the Mac Jee Group. On-site, Miquéias Souza, manager of the Brazil Defense Sectorial Project, is responsible for the commercial agenda of the exhibitors and for establishing connections with foreign buyers. The institutional delegation brings together Ricardo Neiva Tavares, Brazil’s ambassador to France, Fleet Admiral Renato Rodrigues de Aguiar Freire, who heads the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces, and Air Lieutenant Brigadier Heraldo Luiz Rodrigues, Secretary of Defense Products at the Ministry of Defense, in addition to representatives from the Brazilian Navy and the ministry’s General Secretariat.

The strategy responds to pressures faced by the Defense and Security Industrial Base, which gathers more than 240 companies linked to the association and coexists with internal budget fluctuations and long development cycles. In this context, selling abroad becomes a way to recover resources invested in research and innovation, which requires adjusting products to international interoperability standards and to the requirements of NATO and European defense agencies.
