Brazilian agricultural machinery manufacturers take expansion strategy in Europe to Italy after 13% advance in sales

Driven by a 13% increase in exports of agricultural machinery and equipment to the European continent in the first half of 2026, six Brazilian manufacturers will participate in EIMA International 2026, between November 10 and 14, in Bologna, Italy. The delegation, composed of Guarany, Indústrias Colombo, Magnojet, Multibelt, Globus, and J.Assy, is part of the Brazil Machinery Solutions program, conducted by the Brazilian Machinery and Equipment Industry Association (ABIMAQ) in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil). The goal of the companies is to attract new distributors and consolidate relationships with local partners.

Ukraine led purchases in the period, with US$ 18.1 million, followed by Belgium, Russia, Germany, and Turkey, and these five markets concentrated about 75% of the sector’s sales to the continent. The pace of expansion, however, was uneven among destinations. Compared to the first half of 2025, imports grew 52% in Russia, 50% in Germany, and 23% in Belgium, while Italy and Spain recorded increases of 74% and 236%, although on smaller bases. In Eastern Europe, Poland acquired about US$ 4 million in Brazilian equipment and already receives bean harvesters from Indústrias Colombo. According to the executive director of Foreign Market at ABIMAQ, Patrícia Gomes, the experience accumulated in these countries can facilitate entry into other destinations, including those of smaller volume, as long as there are distributors capable of serving local producers.

The sector’s bet lies on technologies developed by national engineering teams, with emphasis on precision agriculture, present in the proposals of four of the participants. As access to the European market depends on safety, quality, and technical compatibility requirements, regulatory compliance tends to weigh on the choice of suppliers by distributors and assemblers. In Patrícia Gomes’ assessment, the supply of technology to European manufacturers allows the signing of industrial contracts with greater continuity and predictability, which reinforces the potential for lasting commercial relationships.
