Brazilian soluble coffee gains traction in the European Union following agreement with Mercosur
In July 2026, the national soluble coffee industry recorded a 20% surge in exports compared to the same month of the previous year, totaling 8,161 tons shipped abroad. The increase is even more expressive in the European market, as shipments to the bloc reached 5.2 thousand tons between May and July—the period following the entry into force of the Provisional Trade Agreement between Mercosur and the European Union—representing an expansion of 51.4% compared to the same period in 2025.
According to data from the Brazilian Soluble Coffee Industry Association (Abics), this performance consolidates a recovery trajectory that already totals a cumulative 10.9% increase in total exports of the product throughout the first seven months of the year. The executive director of the entity, Aguinaldo Lima, points out that the July figures do not yet fully reflect the new commercial conditions, given that the agreement with the EU came into effect on May 1st. In this scenario, countries like Poland, Estonia, and the Netherlands already rank among the top ten buyers of Brazilian soluble coffee, with growths of 40.6%, 103.4%, and 36.9%, respectively, in their acquisitions.
The movement reinforces the European bloc’s role as a strategic destination for market diversification within the Brazilian processed coffee industry, at a time when the sector also recovers ground in the United States following the removal of surcharges.
