Sindirações and FEFAC formalize agreement to deepen regulatory integration in the animal nutrition sector
The National Union of the Animal Feed Industry (Sindirações) and the European Feed Manufacturers’ Federation (FEFAC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Wednesday (August 12) aimed at expanding technical cooperation between the Brazilian and European animal nutrition sectors. The document was discussed during the 19th International Meeting of Animal Feed Regulatory Authorities, organized by the International Feed Industry Federation in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and signed at the headquarters of the Brazilian organization in São Paulo.
The text establishes joint fronts on topics such as animal feed safety, biosafety, livestock welfare, production sustainability, and the convergence of technical standards between the two blocks. According to Sindirações CEO Ariovaldo Zani, the institutions will begin exchanging experiences on input approvals, labeling criteria, and residue limits, as well as coordinating actions in international regulatory forums—a effort aimed at reducing regulatory asymmetries between the markets.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to put into practice the commitments already made under the Mercosur–European Union agreement, with the potential to boost bilateral trade in grains, oilseeds, and derivatives such as meal and biofuels.
