A delegation consisting of about 30 representatives from 20 Brazilian companies arrived in Hamburg, Germany, between September 1st and 4th, 2026, to participate in SMM, one of the main international events focused on the maritime industry. The trip is part of the Invest in Brasil \u2013 Shipbuilding & Offshore<\/i> project, a joint initiative by the Brazilian Association of Maritime Economy Companies, ApexBrasil, and the National Syndicate of Naval and Offshore Construction and Repair. It was created to internationally promote the national naval and offshore sector and attract foreign capital, technology, and partnerships. During the fair, the Brazilian companies will have their own booth, as well as an agenda of meetings, technical visits, and encounters with major companies and global investors.<\/p>\n
According to Jo\u00e3o Azeredo, executive president of the organizing entity, the objective of the mission is to present the new moment of the Brazilian naval industry and connect national companies with agents capable of investing, transferring technology, forming joint ventures, or starting businesses in the country. Helena Brand\u00e3o, investment manager at ApexBrasil, highlighted that the sector is experiencing a significant expansion cycle, with projected investments of around US$ 120 billion in exploration and production between 2026 and 2030, in addition to US$ 9.7 billion that Petrobras intends to direct towards naval construction in the same period. According to the executive, Brazilian shipyards already generate more than 50,000 direct jobs, with a portfolio of projects supported by the Merchant Marine Fund totaling R$ 41.7 billion.<\/p>\n
The trip to SMM complements a previous stage of the project, held during Navalshore in Rio de Janeiro, where 37 business meetings with companies from seven countries generated expectations of over US$ 18 million in new contracts and investments for the following year.<\/p>\n
